Is it difficult to transfer from a wheelchair to an armchair?

Prices From: £POA with VAT Relief

Wheelchair users prefer to be as self-sufficient as possible. It's also nice to be able to relax in a comfortable armchair at home. However, transferring from a wheelchair to an ergonomic armchair is frequently difficult, increasing the risk of falling. Even with a hoist, there is frequently insufficient space in an ordinary armchair for a smooth transfer.

Because of this impediment, some people are forced to remain in their wheelchairs for far too long. As a result, they do not get enough quality rest.

The solution

A swivelling side panel makes transitioning from wheelchair to armchair much easier. The side panel of the chair is easily folded backwards, so that a transfer is very easy to make. Manually (with good arm/hand function) or electrically (with limited arm/hand function) operate the swivelling side panel.

A flip-up side panel also makes using a transfer board easier.
If the correct stand-up position (straight up) is used, the transfer via a folding side panel works perfectly.

The result

The advantages of such an adjustment to an ergonomic stand-up armchair are diverse: Smooth transfer, reduced risk of falling, and a lower threshold for a good night's sleep in a 'ordinary' comfortable chair.
